Artist, Andrew Blanton, will give a broad overview of the use of computers and interactivity in contemporary art. In looking at a few simple introductory examples we will begin to explore what the current possibilities are for using computers to begin programming for interactivity. All levels of experience are encouraged to join. Using (free and easy to download) software such as MAX/MSP and Pure Data we will look at sensors in art environments and how to interact with that data and create meaningful art from that information.
Andrew Blanton, originally from Denver, Colorado, is an artist living and working in Denton, Texas. He is currently completing a MFA in New Media at University of North Texas. Andrew will also be a resident at STEIM (the Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music) in Amsterdam, NL later this spring.
